AN ANALYSIS ON THE CAUSE OF STUDENTS' SPEAKING ANXIETY IN EFL CLASSROOM

Speaking is one of four skills that are deemed to be important. In EFL Classroom, the students often suffer from English speaking anxiety. The purpose this research was discover level students’ anxiety and causes behind it. Descriptive qualitative used investigate research. This conducted on twelfth-grade XII-IIS 2 MAS Ushuluddin Singkawang. To obtain data, observation two questionnaires were applied. being Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale Factors Causing Students’ Questionnaire. analyze obtained data condensation, display, drawing conclusions result revealed 97% experienced high moderate levels mainly psychological factors such as; afraid laughed at; not having enough time prepare; feeling inferior; nervous or shy; anxious when performing alone; test; terrified other will understand; making mistakes; teacher’s immediate correction; beliefs about English; frightened peer’s evaluation, formal class situation. conclusion, more than two-thirds 12 found in classrooms.
